Greek yogurt's popularity has exploded in recent years. Now, America's newest favorite breakfast food has begun to provide a much-needed source of jobs and industry in upstate New York. Two of the leading Greek yogurt brands, Chobani and Fage, have set up shop in New York.
Sales of Greek yogurt topped $821 million last year and New York produced 360 million pounds of it. With sales having increased more than 60 percent in five years, there is little evidence the industry couldn't support much more expansion.
Who would have thought Greek yogurt could be the economic salvation of upstate New York?
