Kate Winslet has found a lot of success from mini-series, Mildred Pierce, including a Golden Globe win. The actress says the best part about playing Mildred was being able to put her culinary skills to good use.
"I do love to cook so I got to do everything," Winslet said. "So the making of the pies to the icing of the cakes, that was all me. It was wonderful and so much fun."
For the series, Winslet also got to learn the proper way of sectioning off a chicken from Top Chef judge, Tom Colicchio.
"He taught me how to do that in his apartment in New York and it was really a huge thrill," she said. "And he used a technique which is quite old-fashioned so it married up [with Mildred Pierce]. It wasn't too restaurant style, it wasn't too polished... [the chicken] has remained a firm favorite of my children."
