Food and Wine Magazine crown the 25 best grilled cheese sandwiches in the United States. They tracked down those sandwiches that were the gooeyist, cheesiest, and most delicious creations known to only grilled cheese aficionados.
The top two winners are The American Grilled Cheese Kitchen in San Francisco featuring artisanal sandwiches like "The Piglet' with Tillamook sharp cheddar, artisan cured ham, apple mustard, and rosemary butter or Grahamwich, a small take-out shop in Chicago, with their inventive grilled cheese containing Wisconsin cheddar, prosciutto, tomato marmalade and cheese curds.
Other notable grilled cheese eateries include Tartine in San Francisco, Clementine in Los Angeles, Grilled Chesse & Co. in Cantonsville, Maryland, and Artisanal Fromagerie, Bistro & Wine Bar in New York City. To find out if there is a grilled cheese winner in your town, view the slideshow here.
