What better way to celebrate the Chinese New Year then with these beautifully designed cookies from Manu's Menu. The eggless sugar cookies are flavored with a bit of five spice. They are artfully decorated with the Chinese symbol for spring. The author, Manuela, has a photographic tutorial so that you can replicate these cookies at home. Enter the year of the dragon with something sweet.

1 ½ cups butter, softened
1 ½ cups sugar
½ tsp vanilla extract
3 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
