Kashi Launches Non-GMO Commitment

April 30, 2012

Kashi has announced an initiative to increase the company's availability fo organic and Non-GMO Project Verified foods.

Their plan is that by the end of 2014, all existing Kashi GOLEAN cereals and Kashi Chewy Granola Bars will be Non-GMO Project Verified. Additionally, by 2015, all new Kashi foods will contain at least 70% organic ingredients and will also be Non-GMO Project Verified

Complete press release

This announcement comes on the heels of a recent debacle where customers became aware that Kashi was using  Genetically Modified Soy in it's products, and that the grains tested positive for pesticides. Foodista wrote about the story, and we also posted Kashi's response.

What do you think? Is Kashi for real, or is this another step in their greenwashing campaign?
