Meatless Monday Wine Pairing: Grilled Potato Salad With Herb Dressing

June 4, 2012

When I think about a dish for a Meatless Monday wine pairing, especially something that evokes summer picnics and festive outdoor times like a Grilled Potato Salad With Herb Dressing, sometimes I am as inspired by the mood and the setting such a dish evokes as the flavors involved. That's why I am recommending a crisp, dry rosé.  Though I beat the drum for year-round consumption of these delightful pink wines, it takes little arm-twisting for me to admit that they may possibly be at their peak of pleasure when the weather is warm and sunny.

And lest you think this is a wine pick based more on feeling than flavor, let me defend my choice by saying that with all those fresh herbs and garlic (half a head!) a rosé from Provence, a region full of herb and garlic-loving dishes, would be a wonderful match. And hey, it's potato salad. Leave the fancy glassware at home and casually sip some rosé out of a rocks glass or (gasp!) even a red Solo cup.
