Sunflower Cookie Decorating Tutorial

June 6, 2012

These sunflower cookies from Bake at 350 are a symbol of summer.  Chocolate sugar cookie dough is cut into a sunflower shape using a cookie cutter.  A very small amount of black food coloring is mixed into the dough to resemble the rich dark brown color as seen on the seed portion of the flower.  The cookies are then decorated using green and yellow icing and a pastry bag.  Chocolate sprinkles are added to the center of the cookie at the end to give it some texture.  A full decorating tutorial is located on the website.
