Doughnut Pancakes Combine The Best of Two Breakfast Foods

June 15, 2012

Doughnut Pancakes from Cooking Classy combine the best of two favorite breakfast foods.  Pancake batter is piped in the shape of a doughnut onto a hot griddle.  As the batter cooks, the pancakes become light and airy.  Instead of traditional maple syrup,   these doughnut pancakes are generously drizzled with a sugary glaze (reminiscent of a glazed doughnuts) and topped with sprinkles.  Doughnut pancakes are delicious treat for breakfast or dessert.

Ingredients

Pancakes:
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/3 cups milk
2 large eggs
2 Tbsp vegetable oil
2 Tbsp applesauce
3 Tbsp granulated sugar
1/4 cup vegetable oil, for brushing griddle
1 recipe Doughnut Glaze Syrup

Since I am a fan of pancakes and doughnuts, this comes as a wonderful surprise to me to have both the delicacies in one plate :) My family is coming over for dinner this weekend and I'd love to treat them with this special recipe of yours. Though my favorite is the homemade pancake syrup (with maple flavoring), I'll try sugary glaze this time. Thanks for sharing.
