Retro Recipes: Tater Tot Casserole

January 10, 2013

The tater tot was introduced to Americans in the early 1950's and since then has remained a popular item, especially among kids.  Tater tot casserole came about later as a way to showcase the tot's versatility instead of it simply being a side.  This dish is transported from the stovetop to the oven.  Ground beef is cooked with onion before being layered with cream of mushroom soup and green beans.  The tater tots top the casserole and are cooked until crisp and golden brown.  Tater tot casserole is sure to become a hit with your kids.
