Traditional Banana Bread

Ingredients

8 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature
1 1/2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt

Preparation

1
Preheat your oven to 325 degrees F. Butter a 9x5x3-inch loaf pan.
2
Cream the sugar and butter in a large mixing bowl.
3
Add the eggs to the sugar mixture, one at a time. Beat well after adding each egg.
4
In a small bowl, mash the bananas with a fork. Add the milk and cinnamon to the banana mash.
5
In another medium-sized bowl, add the flour, baking powder, soda and salt and mix together well.
6
Add the banana mixture to the butter mixture. Stir until combined.
7
Add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture and stir until well combined.
8
Pour the batter into the loaf pan and bake for 1 hour.
9
Bread should be done when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
10
Allow to cool on a rack for at least 15 minutes before slicing and serving.

Ankita - I'm sorry -- I don't know how you'd make this recipe in the microwave...

The picture from this site brought me here and banana cake is certainly not what the picture looked like. Very misleading by the following website.

Has anyone tracked down that fantastic cake/custard in the picture that brought us to the wrong page?

naturally like your web-site however you have to test the spelling on quite a few of your posts.

Many of them are rife with spelling issues and I to find
it very troublesome to inform the truth on the other
hand I will certainly come back again.

You're so right! This does not look like the picture. Banana bread does not look like the picture advertised. Very misleading. Bad advertisement.

I'm sorry - I don't know what ad you're talking about. I haven't posted this recipe anywhere else, so I'm surprised you're seeing photos for it elsewhere.

If anyone is interested, I found the corn dish in the original photo. It's from the Philippines. http://www.seasite.niu.edu/Tagalog/Tagalog_Default_files/Philippine_Culture/pagkaing%20pilipino/panghimagas/Cornpudding.htm

About

This is an older recipe from the Food Network featuring Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger. My bread came out a tiny bit dry, so I adjusted the milk and my baking time just slightly.

A really good, traditional banana bread recipe!
