Picking this recipe allowed me to use and illustrate a few ingredients I otherwise wouldn’t have used, try my hand preparing a new cut of meat, and expose my taste-buds to an awesome flavour combination. I was not disappointed, and you won’t be either!

I will say that this lasagna is to.die.for. like woah! This is definitely one that I will be making again for the family.

If something called a “slump” doesn’t make you salivate, how about eating a “grunt”? No? Then Louisa May Alcott will have your helping.

A healthy quick fix lunch that hits the spot. A little indulgence with the potato is made up for with this saintly salad that explodes with vitamins and minerals.

Remember all that pomegranate juice I made awhile back? I have the juice frozen and took out a liter and made this amazing sorbetto. It is so rich and flavourful that only a little scoop satisfies the craving. Pomegranate has a sweet tart puckery quality about it that makes it ideal as a palate cleanser.

Taiwanese Style Braised Chicken is a favourite meal in the ‘bien dang’ (biandang) or take-away lunchbox in Taiwan and also in popular cafes. It’s a succulent chicken dish with the chicken cooked in a rich sauce.

I thought it was a fun gourmet dish to try for a weekend brunch, and I liked the idea of using a portabella mushroom cap to replace the standard english muffin typically found in this dish. The red bell pepper also adds a hint of sweetness not normally found in the dish, which was great.

The hummus has a touch of creaminess from the cream cheese, great flavor from the roasted red peppers, and a luscious smoothness from the garlic oil, which I also drizzled on top of each bite.

Since I don’t have time to make game food this week, some of my food blogger buddies gave me some recipes for my readers. Here are some recipes I have made in the past and some new ones that my friends have supplied.

Talk about a delicious treat! I was committed to a French inspired New Years Eve this year, and the first thing that came to mind was melted brie cheese. I know, a little cliche, but it's true. The sweetness of the cranberries with the creamy melted brie is simply fantastic in this recipe.

I baked this just before I came to uni and it was from the Green and Black's cookbook! You can make this Seville orange and chocolate tart now, Seville oranges are in season in February!

This recipe is a classic in my kitchen as it is the most traditional kind of rice dish in Lombardy (my region!), where risotto often replaces pasta for a first course.

I have recently cut way back on grains and really focused on eating highly nutritious food. I feel so much better for it – much less sluggish and bloated. I have been eating much more protein and really trying to find ways to incorporate more fresh vegetables into my diet.

In what feels like a former lifetime, I frequented a ubiquitous coffee shop for after school study sessions and Saturday outings. My favorite snack was a cookie-bar hybrid, filled with chunks of chocolate and toffee. While those bars disappeared from the pastry case long ago (and my coffee tastes have evolved!), my love for chocolate and toffee has not ceased.

Flavorful banana chips are a staple in south east Asian cuisine. In both the Philippines and Thailand, Banana are quintessential to both the culture and the cuisine. Banana chips are a sweet & simple dish and can be found being made by street vendors or stores.

So when I was planning out Super Bowl week, I got the idea to make some sliders. I then decided to take my favorite wings and turn them into slider form. I have never been big on the whole wing thing, but love the “boneless wings” at Wingers Bar and Grill. There these wings are known as “Sticky Fingers”. I have shared a recipe before for a homemade version, but thought a slider would be fun.

This week has been really cold in the San Francisco Bay Area and I was thinking what would be the best recipe that represents winter food in Japan. Although there are regional favorites in each area of Japan, I grew up in Tokyo area and what I came up with is Oden.
