This lovely apple cake is dairy-free and egg-free. If you adore apple desserts as much as I do, this is a recipe to try! Moist and full of flavor…the eggs aren’t even missed one bit.

Think about it: if chocolate is to equal love, then what is love without a little heat to keep you warm?

Sometimes you’re just in the mood for a corn dog. Am I right? There’s just something so kid-at-the-county-fair about them. Plus, I haven’t met a food that comes on a stick that I didn’t like. Yet. But being that I’m a vegetarian (at least 90% of the time) I can’t very well just eat any old corn dog. I decided to try to make my own, vegetarian style.

This salad is a wonderful showcase for perfectly ripe figs. It only has four ingredients – figs, prosciutto, pear and salad leaves – plus the dressing, so the flavours of the figs really shines through.

It must be the dry weather that has been making me crave soup so. The warm liquid is beyond fulfilling to this parched high dessert dweller, to the extent that it’s pretty much the only thing I want to make.

Tres Leches is one of those beautiful things everyone should try at least once in their lifetime. It’s delicate, balanced and flavorful. Every bite of this juicy sponge bursts in your mouth, then melts away leaving rich, buttery flavors of creaminess and sweetness on your palate.

Picking this recipe allowed me to use and illustrate a few ingredients I otherwise wouldn’t have used, try my hand preparing a new cut of meat, and expose my taste-buds to an awesome flavour combination. I was not disappointed, and you won’t be either!

I will say that this lasagna is to.die.for. like woah! This is definitely one that I will be making again for the family.

If something called a “slump” doesn’t make you salivate, how about eating a “grunt”? No? Then Louisa May Alcott will have your helping.

A healthy quick fix lunch that hits the spot. A little indulgence with the potato is made up for with this saintly salad that explodes with vitamins and minerals.

Remember all that pomegranate juice I made awhile back? I have the juice frozen and took out a liter and made this amazing sorbetto. It is so rich and flavourful that only a little scoop satisfies the craving. Pomegranate has a sweet tart puckery quality about it that makes it ideal as a palate cleanser.

Taiwanese Style Braised Chicken is a favourite meal in the ‘bien dang’ (biandang) or take-away lunchbox in Taiwan and also in popular cafes. It’s a succulent chicken dish with the chicken cooked in a rich sauce.

Chocolate for breakfast, that’s how hubby dear smiled! It was a breakfast treat – indulgent, yet healthy. A pleasant change from the routine. It is really simple and easy.

I thought it was a fun gourmet dish to try for a weekend brunch, and I liked the idea of using a portabella mushroom cap to replace the standard english muffin typically found in this dish. The red bell pepper also adds a hint of sweetness not normally found in the dish, which was great.

The hummus has a touch of creaminess from the cream cheese, great flavor from the roasted red peppers, and a luscious smoothness from the garlic oil, which I also drizzled on top of each bite.

Last weekend it snowed in New York, I wanted to make something fresh, light, and easy. I present to you a delicious, non-stressful, healthy meal. You’ll surely find these ingredients in your refrigerator/pantry.

Since I don’t have time to make game food this week, some of my food blogger buddies gave me some recipes for my readers. Here are some recipes I have made in the past and some new ones that my friends have supplied.

Talk about a delicious treat! I was committed to a French inspired New Years Eve this year, and the first thing that came to mind was melted brie cheese. I know, a little cliche, but it's true. The sweetness of the cranberries with the creamy melted brie is simply fantastic in this recipe.
