How it works
Every morning, we pick a different Ingredient of the Day, Tweet it and post it on Foodista's Facebook page . You add recipes with the day's ingredient to Foodista: originals, family favorites, dishes you've never tried but look good: you name it. The next day, we pick another ingredient. Every Tuesday afternoon, we randomly pick a winner from the week's submissions. We'll mail the winner a fabulous foodie prize (such as, say, a Foodista apron). Plus, we'll post the winning recipe on this very page. Rules and regulations: (the fine print) The Secret Ingredient will be posted on Facebook and Twitter around 8 AM Pacific Time (sometimes later on weekends- we're only human, you know), and will be active for 24 hours. Prizes will also be posted with each entry so you know exactly what it is you are eligible to win: no one likes any surprises in cooking. Contestants may enter as many submissions as they like, though entries must be actual, edible recipes; contestants may enter recipes from any source, though original recipes get bonus points. Only recipes utilizing the Secret Ingredient on the day that a Secret Ingredient is featured are eligible; Foodista will gladly accept recipes with whatever ingredients you choose, but they will not be entered into the drawing. So, if you submit a recipe on Tuesday with Monday's secret ingredient, it will not be eligible, no matter how delicious the recipe is. Sorry- rules are rules. Winners are selected by Foodista staff based on a variety of criteria, including writing, originality, image quality, and value to Foodista as a whole. Winning submissions are featured on the contest page, and winners will be contacted via email by Foodista staff for an address to mail the prize; we will, of course, cover shipping and handling- no strings attached (unless the prize is an apron, in which case, yes, there are a few strings attached).
