Turmeric is a ground root that provides flavor and characteristic yellow coloration to a variety of foods, particularly Indian dishes. It has been shown to have antioxidant. The root may also be used in its fresh form.

Physical Description
Small, yellowish root with a knobby texture. It is available in two form Bulbs and finger. Bulbs are costlier. Color changes from yelloish to orangish. Indian, Pakistani and Burmese variety are popular.

Tasting Notes
Flavors: slightly tannic, warm, but bitter if overused.

Bad news - it's actually spelled with an r - tuRmeric... I tried to help and edit, but it won't let me because there's already a listing for turmeric :(

I recently cooked with this spice for the first time when making a butternut squash casserole and really liked the flavor it gave the food.
