Bush found in Argentina, Bolivia, Brasil and Paraguay. Flowers are white.

Preparation and Use

Not very good for jams or marmalade. Best eaten fresh, cooled in the fridge.

Conserving and Storing

Does not keep well. Fruits picked off the tree can be slightly bitter leaving an aftertaste. Fruits are at their best when fallen off the tree, or come off at a touch.

Social/Political

This curious berry, about the size of a large damson, grows on a little shrub in sandy and rocky soils. It has a thick yellow rind and several large seeds, and the property of being icy cold in the hottest weather.
