Guar Bean

About

Cluster Bean is native to India and is widely grown in dry, warm and arid regions. Plants are 1 to 3 meters tall. Young flesh green tender pods are harvested for vegetable use. In India, plants are also grown for the cattle fodders or green manuring crops. Matured seeds are crushed and turned into flour, known as guar gum, which are used as a thickening agent in food, paper and textile industries. It has been reported that the thickening power of Cluster Bean is more than 5 times of Corn Starch.
