[edit] About Murray River Pink Flake Salt

The Murray River is the largest river in Australia. It empties into the Murray Darling Basin where low rainfall leads to a high salinity levels. To produce the salt, the high saline water is channeled into ponds where the dry climate causes rapid evaporation. The pale pink color comes from a salt tolerant algae.

The light, flaky pyramid shaped crystals make an excellent finishing salt. The delicate flakes melt quickly and evenly sticking to food. It has a light flavor, delicate crunch, and is perfect for salads.
