Chinese Long Bean


The rich green china long been is easily recognized by it length. These beans are not sweet or crisp in texture as other green beans. China Long bean has its own characteristic which gives its unique flavour and texture to variety of dishes. The young stems and leaves are also edible but not usually available.

Physical Description

Chinese Long Bean grows about three feet long but usually picked up at eighteen inches or less. These beans grow very quick in warm climates. It have its unique texture as compared to other green beans.

Choosing: When selecting, it is recommended to choose smaller, or younger beans that have light shade of green in it.

Buying: Always buy fresh beans and mid size beans as older beans have a more mature pea within, become tough and oily if they have grown to mature or large.Do not select beans that appear dry,rust spotted, yellowed or too limp in texture.
Procuring: Chinese Long Beans are mainly a warm-season crop and will survive in humidity and heat. It can be planted in wide range of climatic conditions but it is very sensitive to cold temperatures.
