Cabernet Franc
About
Cabernet Franc grapes ripen earlier than and prefer a slightly cooler climate than its parent grape Cabernet Sauvignon. It is one of the major varietals of the French Bordeaux region, where it has existed since the end of the 18th century. This versatile grape is a main component of the Bordeaux blends, and flourishes in the Loire Valley. It is often blended with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and has successfully been made into ice wine by Canadian winemakers.
