Elderberries are small, dark bluish-black round berries that grow in clusters. Elderberry bushes and trees are often found near marshes. The berries are sweet and available in the summer. Elderberries are often made into syrup, jams and sauces. They are rich in beta carotene, calcium and vitamin C.
