Tsukudani
About
Tsukudani (佃煮) is small seafood, meat or seaweed side dish that has been simmered in soy sauce and mirin. In addition to adding flavor, this method also preserves the food. A traditional Japanese food, the name originates from Tsukudajima, the island (currently Chūō-ku, Tokyo) where it was first made in the Edo period. Many kinds of Tsukudani are sold.
