We are extremely excited about bringing the conference back to California and to Sacramento for the first time. All previous editions of the International Food Blogger Conference have been held in great food cities known for their restaurants and local culinary scenes: Seattle, Portland, New Orleans, and Santa Monica. However, every foodie in America and worldwide knows a great culinary scene is dependent on outstanding farms. We selected Sacramento in large part because of its location at the heart of California's farming and agricultural industry. Here are just a few of the things you can expect from the 2016 IFBC:
--Three to five optional excursions on Friday morning to area farms, food businesses, markets, or cooking schools that exemplify Sacramento’s commitment to farm-to-fork
--Content covering not just food, technology, and writing but the key issues facing the world’s food community, including drought, food-insecurity, urban farming, sustainability and agricultural innovations
--A grand Saturday dinner featuring local food products from Sacramento, tentatively scheduled to be outdoors on the street outside the host hotel
--A Friday Taste of Sacramento event featuring food from local restaurants - Sacramento has more restaurants highly rated by Zagat than anywhere else in Northern California – including San Francisco
--One or two wine receptions featuring excellent wines from the heart of the country's wine region
--Excellent rate of $149 at the host Hyatt Regency Sacramento, an AAA Four Diamond luxury hotel considered one of the best in the city
--Outstanding air connections from Sacramento International Airport, only 12 miles away
This is a fantastic opportunity to try great food and wine, learn about American's agricultural issues in addition to our traditional content, and - as always - enjoy a fantastic weekend in the company of your fellow food bloggers. Registration remains only $195 for "citizen" food bloggers who agree to write at least three blog posts about the conference (of whatever subject you choose) and $495 for everyone else. See you in Sacramento!
