Dorie Greenspan to Keynote IFBC 2013!
We are thrilled to announce Dorie Greenspan as our keynote speaker for this year's International Food Blogger Conference! Over the past 20 years Dorie has written 10 cookbooks and won six James Beard and IACP awards for them, including Cookbook of the Year ... twice! She won the IACP Cookbook-of-the-Year Award for Desserts by Pierre Herme and, most recently, for Around My French Table. She's also been named to the James Beard Foundation's Who's Who of Food and Beverage in America.
She's the co-author of two cookbooks with Pierre Hermé, Paris's king of pastry; she wrote the Café Boulud Cookbook with Daniel Boulud, the famous French chef in America (and beyond); and had the great honor and terrific fun of writing Baking with Julia, for Julia Child.
In 2006, Baking From My Home to Yours was published. She was thrilled to be able to write this book because it gave her the chance to share the recipes she'd made and the things she'd learned over 30 years of baking at home and in the kitchens of some of the best chefs in America and France. Shortly after the book was published, an online baking club, Tuesdays with Dorie, was formed so that members could bake their way through the book and learn from it and each other. The group is still going strong and just completed Baking From My Home to Yours after almost 4 years! They're now happily baking their way through Baking with Julia.
Baking was about her long-running love affair with pastry. Her newest book is about her other great love: France and its food. Around My French Table is filled with stories of French life and more than 300 recipes for the elbows-on-the-table food that she and her friends are making in France today. Another online group, French Fridays with Dorie, was formed and the members – they come from all over the world – are cooking like mad.
Lately, she's ventured into new territory. She and her son, Joshua (aka The Kid), began Beurre & Sel (follow on Twitter and Facebook) two modern cookie boutiques located in New York City and ship nationwide via their website. Of course you will know if you read her blog (follow her on Twitter or Facebook).
And, having taken the leap into cyberspace with this now four-year-old blog, she's jumped into the iPad world with Baking with Dorie, an app with almost 2 hours of step-by-step video – with it, you’ll be in her Connecticut kitchen and she’ll be in yours. Coming soon, soon, soon.
She's married to Michael, Joshua is their son, and they have three kitchens. She commutes from New York City to Westbrook, Connecticut to Paris, France and back again and never know which pantry needs more vanilla or which place has which charger for which piece of electronic gear.
