Authors Karen Page and Andrew Dornenburg to Keynote IFBC 2014!

We're thrilled to announce two of our favorite authors as our keynote speakers for IFBC 2014! Two-time James Beard Award-winning authors Karen Page and Andrew Dornenburg have written some of the world’s most influential books on food and wine – most notably THE FLAVOR BIBLE, which was named one of the 100 best cookbooks of the last 25 years by Cooking Light and one of the 10 best cookbooks in the world of the past century by Forbes. Cited as two of a dozen "international culinary luminaries" along with Patrick O'Connell, Alice Waters, and Nina and Tim Zagat (in Relais & Chateaux's L'Ame et L'Esprit magazine), Page and Dornenburg were featured on the cover of the 50th anniversary issue of Chef magazine and are the former weekly wine columnists for The Washington Post.

WHAT TO DRINK WITH WHAT YOU EAT was named the Georges Duboeuf “Wine Book of the Year” and the International Association of Culinary Professionals (IACP) “Cookbook of the Year,” and THE FOOD LOVER’S GUIDE TO WINE was both a Foodista and a Gourmand World Cookbook Award winner, as well as a finalist for both the IACP and James Beard book awards. Their cult classic CULINARY ARTISTRY has an avid following among leading chefs on virtually every continent and was named one of the 10 must-have cookbooks of the past 25 years by Toronto’s famed Cookbook Store.  BECOMING A CHEF was praised by Julia Child, who said she kept a copy by her bed (it's now part of the Julia Child's Kitchen exhibit at The Smithsonian).  In addition to being featured on “Today,” “Good Morning America,” and countless NPR programs, their books have been translated into multiple languages, and they have been featured speakers at gastronomy conferences around the globe.

Karen Page earned degrees from Northwestern and Harvard, and a certificate in plant-based nutrition from Cornell in conjunction with the T. Colin Campbell Foundation as preparation for her forthcoming book THE VEGETARIAN FLAVOR BIBLE (Fall 2014).  She was one of 100 distinguished alumnae named by Northwestern's President as a founding member of The Council of 100, and serves on the Advisory Committee for Citymeals-on-Wheels’ Power Lunch for Women, which gathers 300+ of New York City’s most influential women to raise more than $1 million annually to feed the homebound elderly.  Andrew Dornenburg studied with the legendary Madeleine Kamman at the School for American Chefs, and earned a sommelier certificate from the Sommelier Society of America.  He previously cooked professionally in top restaurants in New York and Boston, and has been featured in the book Golden Opportunity, on “Regis & Kelly,” and on “Page Six” as one of McDonald’s most famous alums. The couple,  who has run more than a half-dozen marathons and countless half-marathons between them, married in 1990 and lives in Manhattan.
