Lisa Chalfant

I'm a mom of 5 on a mission to make healthier food choices for my family. I want my kids to eat nutritious meals made from real ingredients, but I also want them to enjoy it. I am constantly searching for healthy, family-friendly recipes and I've even adapted some on my own.

Learning to cook from scratch has not been easy. Some days I long for the time when I would grab a box of chicken nuggets out of the freezer, pop them in the oven, and dinner was done. Now chicken nuggets involve making bread crumbs from homemade bread, cutting up the chicken, coating the chicken, and frying them up in a pan. It's a lot more time consuming and there are a lot more dirty dishes involved, but I am teaching my children healthy habits that hopefully will make them healthier and happier.

Over the past few months I have discovered that I actually like cooking, then I started a blog and a foodie was born! Now I love to visit other bloggers and drool over their pictures and play with their recipes. It's great to be doing something positive for my family that I enjoy doing (as opposed to something like cleaning. Anyone want to come clean my house?)

Some of my interests besides cooking and baking are: weight lifting, exercise, reading, writing, and drawing.

My favorite foods: mint chocolate chip ice cream, brownies, anything pumpkin, bacon, peanut butter, shrimp and cheese grits .... oh, who am I kidding? I have way too many favorite foods to list. From one day to the next, the list could change completely. I love all sorts of foods and I love to try new foods. Enough said.

If I could have a super power, I would want to be like Jeannie on "I Dream of Jeannie." By crossing my arms and nodding my head, I could rule the world or at least get a lot more done during the day.
