Nope! If you are worried about bitterness in eggplants, then cut your eggplant up (before cooking) and sprinkle liberally with salt. Leave to rest in a colander and you will see little droplets forming as the salt extracts any bitter juices. (This also helps prevent excess oil absorption when you fry the eggplants). Dab the eggplant with a paper towel to get rid of all the moisture, then they are ready to be cooked.
