Question: What is your favorite way to cook tofu? Have you grilled tofu?

October 25, 2010
I have had grilled tofu at a friends house, but have never really been successful in cooking it myself. I would love to enjoy since I don't eat much meat.

I was suprised at how much tofu looks like scrambled eggs when you break it apart with your fingers.

This was discovered when I was making a vegan baked ziti for a friend which used a bunch of the bean curd. I wrote the whole thing up here:

But besides that, you don't even have to cook it.

Cubed and dressed with good soy sauce, toasted sesame oil and a bit of freshly grated ginger root is a pretty tasty treat. Or you can similarly marinate it (add a bit of peanut oil) and stir fry over high heat (and additional peanut oil) for stir fry.

Marinated and baked it has a good flavor and texture.
I brown and cook it like hamburger to put in chili. It takes on the flavor of the spices- and you'd never miss the meat.

I prefer baked for when I use a marinade. Grilled crisp plain tofu dipped in BBQ sauce is also delicious!
