Freaky! I'm drinking the Castle Rock Petite Verdot as I read this! I love it, hard to find 100% PV. Great advice.
I'd also suggest a Gruner Vetliner with the halibut.

Try a nice syrah. Woop Woop (Australian) makes a nice syrah for about $9. A nice petite verdot would be good- Try one from Castle Rock.
The halibut try a nice Savignon Blanc. I just tried a dry one from In Ka that was great.
