Recipe: Holiday Rum Sauce edit

Yield: 12 servings

cup dark brown sugar

1

tablespoon cold water

1 ⅓

cups hot water

2

tablespoons cornstarch, thinned in water

1

tablespoon softened butter

1

teaspoon vanilla

½

cup dark rum

edit Preparation

Step 1

Place sugar and cold water into a heavy bottomed pot and stir until thoroughly combined.

Step 2

Add hot water and stir until well blended and melted.

Step 3

In a mug, thin cornstarch in cold water.

Step 4

Add the cornstarch mixture to the pot and bring to a boil.

Step 5

Continue cooking for 15 minutes, stirring all of the time. The sauce will thicken.

Step 6

Add butter, vanilla and rum to sauce.

Step 7

If using for fondue, pour into a small ceramic fondue pot and keep warm with a tea light.

Step 8

This Rum sauce is perfect for Christmas pudding or a festive holiday fondue.
