Recipe: Holiday Rum Sauce edit

cup dark brown sugar |

tablespoon cold water |

cups hot water |

tablespoons cornstarch, thinned in water |

tablespoon softened butter |
1 |
teaspoon vanilla |
½ |
cup dark rum |
edit Preparation
Step 1 |
Place sugar and cold water into a heavy bottomed pot and stir until thoroughly combined. |

In a mug, thin cornstarch in cold water. |
Step 4 |
Add the cornstarch mixture to the pot and bring to a boil. |
Step 5 |
Continue cooking for 15 minutes, stirring all of the time. The sauce will thicken. |
Step 6 |
Add butter, vanilla and rum to sauce. |
Step 7 |
If using for fondue, pour into a small ceramic fondue pot and keep warm with a tea light. |
Step 8 |
This Rum sauce is perfect for Christmas pudding or a festive holiday fondue. |
