cup sugar

cup light corn syrup

½

cup hot water

Egg whites

1

dsh salt

¼

teaspoon vanilla

¼

cup mayonnaise

1

tablespoon grated orange rind

edit Preparation

Step 1

Combine sugar, corn syrup and hot water. Heat slowly, stirring until sugar dissolves; then boil without stirring to firm ball or thread stage

Step 2

(248 degrees on candy thermometer).

Step 3

Beat egg whites with salt. When stiff, gradually beat in the hot syrup.

Step 4

Add vanilla.

Step 5

Fold in mayonnaise and orange rind.

Step 6

Serve, separately, so that guest can spoon over fresh fruit.

Step 7

Makes 2 1/2 cups.
