About

When I got home, the experimenting started for the perfect strawberry peach sangria combination. The peach wine was intoxicating sweet so I blended a Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand, Hawk’s Bay The Supernatural, to keep the crispness to the punch. I muddled half of a fresh peach, two strawberries and one orange segment in a cocktail shaker; Added one part peach wine and two parts The Supernatural.

Not bad, but not peachy. Try again.

This time one whole fresh peach, four strawberries and two orange segments were muddled in the cocktail shaker. I added two parts peach wine, one part the Supernatural and for more preachiness one shot of Peach Schnapps. Poured the mixture over ice and topped off with some Sprite.

“Fabulous!” I shouted to Napoleon, my pug.

“What’s fabulous?” Toes said when he entered the kitchen.

Startled, I jumped back against the counter and almost choked on the sip in my mouth.

“Hey, how long have you been here watching me?”

“Long enough to have this round.”
