cups all-purpose flour |

tablespoon baking powder |

teaspoon salt |

teaspoon Italian seasoning |

cup shredded cheddar cheese |
⅔ |
cup milk |
⅓ |
cup butter, melted |

Step 1 |
1/8 teaspoon of each: oregano leaves, marjoram leaves, basil leaves, dash rubbed sage can be substituted for Italian seasoning. |
Step 2 |
Heat oven to 400 degrees. In medium bowl combine all ingredients except egg and water, stir until mixture no longer sticks to bowl (2 to 3 minutes). Knead dough lightly 10 times. Divide dough into 24 equal pieces. Roll each piece into 6 inch rope. Twist 2 ropes together, press lightly at ends. Repeat with remaining dough. Place on greased cookie sheet. |
Step 3 |
In small bowl beat egg with water; brush on breadsticks. Bake for 12 to 17 minutes or until lightly golden brown. Remove from cookie sheet immediately. Yield: 12 bread sticks. |
