brussels sprouts

1

red onion, cut into large pieces

tablespoons sesame oil

tablespoons balsamic vinegar

¼

teaspoon black bean garlic sauce

1

teaspoon minced garlic

1

salt and pepper

inch wooden skewers, soaked water

Step 1

Cook brussels sprouts in a 4-quart pot of boiling, salted water for for 4 minutes, or until crisp-tender. Plunge immediately into a large bowl of ice water to stop cooking and to preserve fresh, green colour.

Step 2

In a small bowl, whisk together sesame oil, vinegar, and black bean garlic sauce, and garlic. Add salt and pepper to taste Alternate brussel sprouts and onion pieces on skewer, beginning and ending with onion. Brush marinate over kebabs, making sure all elements are well coated. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to grill. Kebabs can be prepared 1 day in advance.

Step 3

Grill kebabs for 5 minutes or until lightly charred and brussel sprouts and onions are just cooked through.
