pounds ripe blackberries (14 cups)

6

cups granulated sugar

3

cups gin

Step 1

Place the blackberries and sugar in a gallon glass jar. Place the jar in a warm place until the juice is drawn from the berries, about 8 hours. Press juices through a food mill or fine-mesh strainer; discard berries and seeds.

Step 2

Wash jars or bottles, enough to hold 6 cups liquid. Measure out berry juice.

Step 3

Measure out an equal amount of gin. Stir juice and gin together. Pour into the jars or bottles. Store in a cool, dark place for 3 months before serving. -
