Slow Simmered Pork Roast
Ingredients
3 green onions, cut diagonally
1 teaspoon fresh ginger, julienne
2 star anise seed, whole
2 tablespoons soy bean condiment (mien see)
2 tablespoons light soy sauce
2 teaspoons brown sugar
2 1/2 cups water or more
2 cloves garlic, sliced thin
1/2 teaspoon ground white pepper
2 1/4 pounds boneless pork roast (butt is preferred)
Preparation

Mix all ingredients together, except pork. Place the meat in an ovenproof casserole that is just large enough to hold it. Pour the sauce over the top, cover the dish and bake at 275 degrees anywhere from 5 to 8 hours, depending on your taste. (You can also use your slow cooker and give it a little more time.) Serve with cooked rice and crisp salad. Yum!
