pounds Beef stew meat, cut into 1 inch cubes |

teaspoons Cooking oil |

cups Water |

cup Ketchup |

tablespoons White vinegar |
3 |
tablespoons Brown sugar, packed |

cups Sliced carrot |

cup Chopped onion |

teaspoon Salt |

teaspoon Pepper |

Step 1 |
Brown beef in cooking oil in large pot or Dutch oven. |
Step 2 |
Add water, ketchup, vinegar and brown sugar. Stir. Cover. Boil slowly for 1 1/4 hours. |
Step 3 |
Add carrot, onion, salt and pepper. Stir. Cover. Boil gently for 30 to 40 minutes until beef and vegetables are tender. |
Step 4 |
Makes 4 1/2 cups |
