1 pound meat of your choosing (chopped beef, meatballs, sausage,
2 tablespoons oil (if you are making a meatless sauce)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon tomato paste (optional, for added flavor or to thicken)
1 1/2 tablespoons dried parsley
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 1/2 tablespoons dried basil
1 1/2 tablespoons dried onions
1/2 teaspoon dried crushed red pepper (optional)
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon black pepper

Preparation

1
Brown meat in bottom of pan, then add in garlic. If you are making a meatless sauce, slightly saute the garlic in the oil.
2
Add all the remaining ingredients, and simmer uncovered for hours. If the sauce thickens too much, add a little water to thin out.
3
Periodically taste-test; add salt as needed.
4
Serve over your favorite cooked pasta or use as an ingredient in your favorite Italian dish.
