Chicken With Hilopites In Wine Sauce

Ingredients

[traditional Greek pasta comfort food
Recipe for 4 people
6 chicken legs visible fat removed and cut in two
1/4 cup olive oil
1 large onion sliced
1/2 cup red wine
3 cups water

Preparation

In heavy pot add olive oil, onion and garlic, sauté for a few min. in medium heat.

Add chicken and continue cooking for 6-8 min.

Deglaze with the wine.

Add tomato sauce, water, salt and pepper.

Cover and cook for 15-20 min.

At this point place chicken with sauce in an ovenproof casserole pan,

Add 2 cups Hilopites and 4 cups hot water.

Cook in a hot oven for 25-30 min at 350 stirring occasionally.

When done remove and let stand for 5 min.

Serve with grated cheese.

Litsas Tip: Long grain rice, elbow pasta and penne work well with this recipe.
