Bengali Aloo Posto

Ingredients

6 potatoes, cubed and parboiled
50 g posto/ poppy seeds (khus khus)
2 dry red chillies
2 bay leaves
1/2 tsp kalo jeera/ kalonji/ nigella seeds
1/2 a red onion, finely chopped
1 tsp turmeric
1 tsp cumin powder
1/2 tsp red chilli powder
1/2 tsp sugar
Salt as per taste
3 green chillies
1 tbsp cooking oil

Preparation

1. Take a pan and pour some oil.

2. Put the red and green chillies. Add the nigella seeds.

3. Now add the cubed potatoes.

4. Put all the spices – turmeric powder, chilli powder, jeera powder and the poppy seed paste.

5. Add some water and cook the potatoes.

6. Once cooked, serve with warm rice.
