cup sugar

1 ½

cups soft shortening

fresh eggs

cup buttermilk (or 2 qt. milk

1

cup vinegar)

3 ½

qts. flour

3

tablespoons soda

3

tablespoons cinnamon

1 ½

tablespoons ginger

1 ½

tablespoons salt

1 ½

tablespoons nutmeg

ICING (for hot uncut bars) :

2

lbs. powdered sugar

1

pound brown sugar

Thin with boiling hot water

Step 1

Use 20 quart mixer. Mix on #2 until smooth. Divide onto 3 trays. Bake at 375 degrees and while still very hot drizzle icing on top.
