This recipe was entered in The Foodista Best of Food Blogs Cookbook contest, a compilation of the world’s best food blogs which was published in Fall 2010.

Ingredients

4 whole wheat buns, grilled or toasted
1 pound lean ground beef, formed into a patty and grilled
4 teaspoons butter
4 jalapeno
1 cup tequila
1 cup salsa
2 avocados, sliced

Preparation

Slice jalapenos and saute on high heat in butter until soft.

Standing back, add tequila to deglaze the pan. Saute for 20 seconds before removing.

Remove from heat.

Form ground beef into patties and grill until desired doneness. Toaste buns open face on grill

Add a slice of Monterey jack cheese to each burger. Top with Tequila jalapenos.

Garnish burgers with salsa, cilantro, and sliced avocado. Serve with with a chipotle mayonaise if you’d like.

You don't need a cup of tequila to deglaze a few peppers. 2oz would work just fine and that will give you 6oz you can drink.
