Cook the asparagus in briskly boiling water until tender, about 10 minutes. Drain well.

Wrap three asparagus tips in each slice of prosciutto and fasten with a toothpick. Place in a greased baking dish, sprinkle with half the butter and the cheese and bake 5 minutes.

Remove from the oven and pour the remaining butter over the top.
