The Old Fashioned is a cocktail, possibly the first drink to be called a cocktail. It is traditionally served in a short, round, 8–12 ounce tumbler-like glass, called an ''Old-Fashioned glass'', named after the drink. The Old Fashioned is one of six basic drinks listed in David A. Embury's classic ''The Fine Art of Mixing Drinks''.

ounces spirit

¼

ounce simple syrup

2

Dashes angostura bitters

Step 1

In a pint mixing glass, add spirits (such as Bourbon) and mixers

Step 2

Fill glass 3/4 full with ice and stir swiftly for 20 seconds

Step 3

Strain into an Old Fashioned glass over fresh ice

Step 4

Garnish with a wide orange wedge and lemon disc
