Veal Stew With Tomatoes

Ingredients

Veal for stewing (one to two pounds)
2 tablespoons vegetable oil or olive oil
28 ounces can tomatoes
2 large onions, cut into wedges
5 (or more) cloves fresh garlic, crushed
1 green or red pepper, cut into strips or squares
black pepper to taste

Preparation

Cook veal cubes in oil until no longer pink.

Combine veal with remaining ingredients in slow cooker.

Slow-cook until meat is tender.

Serve over rice or noodles.

About

I use the "auto" setting on my slow cooker, which is two hours on High and the rest of the time on Low; it was done in about six hours but might have been ready earlier.
