Pita chips are a baked bread made from pita bread, often seasoned. They are crunchier and thicker than most chips. They are available in many flavors. They are often used as a substitute for potato chips because they are less greasy and generally healthier. They can be dipped in salsas and other mixtures. Trader Joes has a very successful brand of pita chips that include sweet flavors, such as "Cinnamon and Sugar," and savory flavors, like "Garlic Parmesan" and "Reduced Guilt Sea Salt". Another successful brand of pita chips is Stacy's,founded by Stacy Madison. They also come in several flavors such as Simply Naked (Nothing but Sea Salt), Parmesan Garlic & Herb, Hot & Spicy, Cinnamon Sugar, Tuscan Herb, Toasted Onion & Rosemary and Multigrain. One of the newest companies to enter the pita chip market is a long time pita bread bakery, . The company bakes all natural snacks with Sea Salt, Cinnamon Sugar, Garlic Herb, Multigrain and Zesty Cheddar. They are made of enriched flour (Wheat flour, Niacin, Reduced Iron, Thiamin Monitrate, Riboflavin, Folic Acid). Sunflower Oil (Ascorbic Acid, Rosemary. Citric Acid, Canola Oil). Sea salt, Whole Wheat flour, Sugar, Active Yeast, Oat Fiber, compressed Yeast, Malted Barley Flour and Inactive Yeast.

Step 1 |
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. |
Step 2 |
Brush 2 whole pitas with olive oil, stack pitas and cut into wedges. Arrange wedges on baking sheet and sprinkle with cayenne. Top with second baking sheet to keep chips flat. |
Step 3 |
Place stacked baking sheets in oven and bake chips in 375 degree oven for 12 to 15 minutes or until crisp. |

For a lower-fat chip, do not brush with oil. Substitute other spices for the cayenne.
