Punjabi Kala Channa Curry

Ingredients

250 grams Kala Channa (Black Gram)
2 teaspoons Baking Soda
1 cup Oil
2 Onion chopped
2 Tomatoes chopped
1 teaspoon Garlic crushed
1 teaspoon Ginger crushed
1/4 cup Fresh Coriander leaves for garnish
Salt to taste
1/2 teaspoon Haldi
1 teaspoon Coriander powder
1/2 teaspoon Cumin powder
1 teaspoon Garam Masala

Preparation

Throughly cleans and wash the kala channa, then soak in water ( add 2 teaspoon of baking soda) for

hours. Drain and keep aside.

Now take 3-4 glass of water in a pan , add soaked kala channa , onion, ginger, garlic, tomatoes and spices except Garam masala. Cook on medium flame till channa is tender (1-2 hours)

When channa is tender evaporate water on high flame, add oil and green chillies and fry for 5-10 minutes.

Now add 2 cup water to make gravy and cook for 5 minutes, then sprinkle garam masala and fresh coriander leaves and simmer.

Delicious Punjabi Kala Channa Curry is ready .

Serve with Roti/Naan

NOTE: 1 teaspoon Baking soda can be added during cooking to enhance flavour.
