1/4 cup brandy

Heat sugar and water to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer uncovered 2 minutes; cool to lukewarm. Stir in brandy.

Savarin syrup is used in the French dessert named Savarin, or French Ring Cake. Rum or orange-flavored liqueur may also be used.
