Living The Gourmet Apple Cake

Ingredients

3/4 cup sour cream
5 1/2 cups milk
1 teaspoon rum extract
Apples:
7 apples (peeled and sliced)
zest of 1 lemon
juice of 1 lemon
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cloves
Brown Sugar Topping:
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons nutmeg
2 tablespoons cinnamon

Preparation

Preheat oven 350 degrees:

In a large bowl combine all of the ingredients for the apples.

In a smaller bowl combine all of the ingredients for the cake mix.

Combine both bowls and place in two 8 x 8 inch greased baking pans.

Prepare the brown sugar topping by combining brown sugar, granulated sugar, flour, nutmeg and cinnamon.

Melt butter and place in bowl with the other ingredients and drizzle over the cake before baking.

Place in oven and bake for 35 – 40 minutes or until the knife test comes clean when inserted in middle of cake.
