$1,000 Popsicle

May 16, 2011

Finally, there is conclusive proof that the recession is ending. The Marquis Los Cabos resort in Baja California Sur, Mexico has introduced a $1,000 popsicle for its guests. To make the expensive icy treat, the resort combines 24 carat gold flakes with Tequilas Premium Clase Azul Ultra (which sells for $1,500 a bottle). The popsicle is made with a clear plastic stick and is coated in a bit of sugar.

Popsicles are served poolside. If you prefer to simply enjoy the tequila used to make them, the resort will pour you a shot of it for $500.

Note that the popsicle above is not the version served at the resort.

This sounds like taking a rare bottle of wine and making sangria with it.

Proof that the recession is ending? I don't think so. It's proof that the rich are getting richer, and they are probably are getting richer on our dime (you know, the bailout TARP funds).
