Cash Mobs Boost Local Businesses in Need

March 20, 2012

You may have heard of flash mobs, but in a recent post, GOOD introduced us to a new phenomenon that's sweeping North America: cash mobs. These planned shopping sprees center on a local business that's in need of some help -- kind of like Groupon, minus the deals.

The rules for a cash mob are simple: organizers select a local establishment and spread the word via social media. Attendees head there and spend an agreed-upon amount, which GOOD reports is about $20, and then head to the bar to celebrate afterwards. Would you ever attend or organize a cash mob?
